Spa massage is a massage technique with a simultaneous combination of various psycho physiotherapeutic methods of influence, including an, ordered, dosed mechanical effect produced by a specialist on tissues and systems of prepared person, considering his personal characteristics, with the aim of a positive impact on the psychosomatic state.
Now, the very concept of massage, as well as the classification of types and massage techniques, required a new look and some expansion.
This is since various bodywork techniques that came to South Africa from Europe and Asia have become so widely used in our salons and medical centers that they overflowed the boundaries of classical and standard manual tricks.
The exotic variety of newborn techniques requires evaluation and classification, as they are often indiscriminately classified as spa techniques, discrediting the very concept of the spa.
It must also be understood that a massage performed in a spa area does not automatically become a spa massage. What is a spa massage? How to distinguish spa massage from spa care? How is spa massage different from any other kind?
Paradoxical as it may seem, but the answer must be sought in the history of mankind. What saved a person, calmed, and gave them confidence in himself and in the future?
Fire or heat. Social contact. Each of these factors should be present equally in spa care and spa massage.
In addition, for normal functioning, it is necessary to balance the work of the main body systems. Reception and assimilation of all nutrients, their delivery to each cell, and the release of products’ vital activity.
It also requires an ordered work of the nervous system, which allows you to coordinate the processes of tension and relaxation.
Thus, the respiratory, digestive, excretory, nervous systems, and circulatory systems should be involved in the massage.
In spa massage, we are obliged to influence all the basic functions of the body. That is, a spa massage should be unifying: muscle-relaxing, abdominal-toning, hemodynamic, lymphatic drainage, psych neurotropic, and lipolytic.
Given that spa massage is a type of massage, respectively, it is a complex of physiotherapeutic techniques and principles of naturopathy, using several physical methods in one care procedure, carried out with the help of natural or artificial, similar to natural resources, aimed at prevention, treatment, and restoration of some-psychological balance with the formation of a positive psycho-emotional perception in the client.
The desired effect can be achieved faster using the principles of aesthetic therapy by influencing the maximum number of sensory organs. Spa massage should also meet these requirements.
